The GreenPowerâ„¢ tick of approval logo

100% GreenPower logo 75% GreenPower logo 50% GreenPower logo 25% GreenPower logo 20% GreenPower logo 10% GreenPower logo

The percentage on each logo indicates how much GreenPower™ is in each product. For example a 75% GreenPower™ product contains 75% accredited renewable energy and 25% that is sourced from either non-accredited renewable, or it may come from a coal fired power station or the like.

Some of our partners offer renewable energy that is not rated by the government and therefore their GreenPower™ rating is zero. It can be a bit confusing! But for example, electricity generated by the Snowy Hydro scheme is green energy and has a renewable rating of 100%. However, this generation capacity has been in place since the 1950s and is therefore not contributing to reducing Australia’s reliance on carbon-fired energy today so it does not receive the Government’s GreenPower™ rating.

Accreditation ensures that energy companies are producing renewable energy of the same standard, making it easier for customers to choose between different renewable energy products - as simple as comparing apples with apples.

Accreditation also means that GreenPower™ retailers’ sales and purchases are audited on an annual basis to ensure you get what you pay for. Retailers are audited to check they haven’t counted their GreenPower™ purchases towards their mandatory requirements to purchase renewable energy under Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET). This means you pay only once for renewable energy.

From a customer’s perspective, the GreenPower™ label demonstrates at a glance that you are supporting renewable energy that is best for the environment and the renewable energy purchased will decrease greenhouse pollution.
